I need a solution

We have three clients that are getting bounce back errors and the contacts seem to be utilizing MessageLabs.

We check our two servers for blacklisting and neither come up. We also checked the Symantec MessageLabs blacklist search and that showed Neutral. Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to know am not sure whether using SEP 14.1 we can secure endpoint system on which cloud applications are running.such as google drive, azure explore, sendspace & torrent ect, also need protection for web browser, messanger & social applications.

How SSL VA handles the VLAN tagged traffic?

Hello,

Q1. Could anyone explain how SSL VA handles the trunk/tagged VLAN port?

Is it able to only accept the certain VLAN as defined VID? 

And How does it copy and send these multiple VLANs to the security appliances?

Q2. There are two approaches, one is Inbound(Reverse) and other is Outbound(Forward).

Is it possible to use both at the same time with the single SSL VA?

SEP 14 misses threat when executed from USB

Hi all,

have problem that causes a bit of a headache.

As part of a pentest on our workstations the pentest team is executing a piece of custom malware on a SEP 14 protected PC.

When malware is copied from USB to desktop and excuted from there: SEP catches it.

When executed from USB: SEP misses it and PC is infected.

  • Any ideas why?
  • Any ideas how to prevent it (without blocking all execution from USB)?

Application Blocking Question

In an attempt to block Minecraft from being run on our network,  I have created a ruleset per https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH97618.html 

I have exported hashes for a .jar file that the students are running and added them to the explict block ruleset, however it appears that its not working as advertised. 

MD5, SHA1 and SHA256 were all created and placed in the blocklist, yet it still seems to not work as expected.   

Am I missing something, or is this only for .exe based applications?

SEPM 14.0.1 RU1 MP1 Behaviour regarding SEPM 11.x agents

Hi folks,

My understanding is that SEPM 11.x is not supported with SEPM 14.0.1 RU1 MP1. We've eliminated our known devices with 11.x installed, We're currently running 12.1 RU6-MP6 and we are preparing to upgrade our production system. However, my question is this. What happens if someone pulls a device out of a closet and the device has SEPM 11.x installed, how will SEPM 14.0.1 RU1 MP1 handle the connection attempt. Will the device still register in SEPM 14.0.1 or will it be blocked from registering with the system?

SEP Client deployment by SCCM - Definitions

Hi All,

I have a hopefully quick question.

We use the Microsofts System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) to deploy the SEP client to our workstations. Our current process is we export the installation package from the SEPM inc. the definition set and then inport them into the SCCM source repository. The problem we have is the definitions are export at a point in time. Sometimes our SEP Client deployments can take upto a month to hit all our clients. This cause a problem because by the end of the months deployment the definitions are a month out of date.

Apart from exporting a freash SEP client install package every couple of days or every day with the latest definition included. Is there a way to just export the definition set from the SEPM so all we need do a file replace on the SCCM package source?

Our SEPM and clients are 14.0.1 (RU1).

Symantec endpoint protection is not starting and not reporting to console

i am having 5400 endpoints in my environment out of which 450 systems i am not able to find it on console.

i have randomely checked 6,7 systems and found SEP installed, after that i checked symantec endpoint protection service which is already started, but when i try to start the SEP client from system tray or from start menu it is showing Symantec Endpoint Protection cannot open because some Symantec Services arestopped. Restart the Symantec services, and then open Symantec Endpoint Protection. Symantec Endpoint Protection cannot open because some Symantec Services are stopped. Restart the Symantec services, and then open SymantecEndpoint Protection.

sumbit file to Cynic

Hi all, 

ATP lets me submit the files that it detects as suspicious or malicious to Cynic for analysis with a click of a button. The question:

1/ How long Cynic will return the result that the file is malicious or good to users? 

2/ What is the maximum file size that ATP can forward to Cynic for analysis? 

3/ While Cynic is analyzing, users can download the file to computer or not? User can know the file is being analyzed on Cynic or not?

Uninstalling security essentials with SEPM remote push

I have 300 clients and MS security essentials is installed on all of them .

I am pushing SEP client remotely through SEPM with the option ""Automatically uninstall third party antivirus "

But when the installation of SEP is completed MS security essentials is still not uninstalled and working ...

I know there is a tool SEPPrep but i dont know how to integrate it with remote push deployment ..How can i do this through SEPM remote push ?

    Last response time: 1253 ms   

    Average response time: 1412 ms ------------------------response time

4) how much money you want for this and WHY it is a separate license

Most of us will not install something strange and new with no information about what it is etc.

We are currently using Symantec DCS Server 6.7.2.66 version. Does it supports NSX 6.3.0? What and all NSX versions supports apart from VMware NSX Manager 6.1.3, 6.1.4, 6.1.7, 6.2, 6.2.4, 6.2.5?

Hello,

I am an Endpoint Protection of Synantec cloud. Recently I often met alert message that my files are unsafe and they were removed by the Synmatect automatically.

I attached an file for example.

Actually, I know that I can make exceptions for these files but I dont want to do this way because this file will be delivered to my customers. I dont want my customers also see this message.

How I can do with these files so that the Synantec will not treat them as unsafe.

SEP 14 RU1 - Notification Emails from events months ago

Hi

Since we upgraded from 12.1 to 14 RU1 we are getting very often Email notifications from Risk Found events months ago. For example, on the 2 of January 2018 we got again a notification of a "New risk found" event on a client from July 2017. Another one we got from February 2016. It happens not only with the same clients and they are always online and connected and the Heartbeat is 5 Minutes. On the clients we can't see any current event logged, so it's definitely from the past and must be triggered from the SEP Manager and its database. We have no idea why SEP 14 is bringing such events up again after months or weeks. Is there a way to check the database or any health check procedures?

PC fails to start

I need a solution

We have new computers at work (Dell Latitude 5580s). Before I can issue them to employees I go through and image them and run updates and add any specific software that needs to be added. After all of that is completed I install endpoint encryption. Everything works as expected - meaning that the laptop goes through the installation wizard, restarts, and then it encrypts. After the encryption is done I register an admin account on the software's suite and then restart the computer.

This process has worked perfectly on all of my laptops except one. This laptop makes it to the very end of the process without a problem until that final restart. One this one the Symantec login screen comes up as normal, but after logging in it goes to the blue screen that says "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart..." - After going through that process 2-3 times the recovery blue screen comes up saying "Your PC couldn't start properly...After multiple tries the operating system on your PC failed to start so it needs to be repaired..." - I have run the repair tool (it was unable to fix the issue), I have attemted a recovery (it says there is nothing to recover).

I have already tried wiping the drive and starting over (re-imaging the computer and starting again from there) and I did so successfully, however, upon re-installing the endpoint encryption the same issue occured.

I'm sort of stumped on this one. The fact that I can wipe the computer and start all over again makes me think that I don't have a hard drive issue but I'm not sure what else might cause this problem. Any help the community could provide would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Unable to sync password after providing WDRT to end users

I need a solution

Hi Team,

We have multiple user unable to sync with there Windows password after providing WDRT.

It doesn't pop up to change/sync password after loggin into windows screen.

changing password by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del and updating policy, restarting still does not sync.

We have 10.3.2 installed on most of machines.

People in LAN or in Remote over VPN both have same issues.

Could someone suggest what could be the reason?
