ESM policy for read only databases

Running ESM here and we get some alerts on databases that are down or in read only mode stating that the ESM is missing. This has been determined to occur because the databases are usually clustered or configured as hot standby so the database may be down at the moment or in read only mode.

My question, and I have almost no experience with ESM is, is it possible to have ESM be cluster aware or have it aware that the database is in read only mode and that it is possible to be missing ESM since it is not currently active at the moment?
