SEPM NOT updating definitions.

This has not been successful since May 2012 (installation). I run update and it says cannot update. I have been to "Virus definitions in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) are not updating" help topic but cannot delete the files so named as some of the folders do not exist. I cannot navigate (access denied) to one of the folders in Documents and Settings.

Please advise.
