I need a solution
Hello,
we are currently using Endpoint Protection Small Business on our clients. Management is done by Endpoint Protection Manager that runs on our Microsoft Small Business Server 2011 Standard.
At the moment we are using v12 and we want to upgrade to v2013. As of v2013 Symantec offers a cloud-based manager. I have some questions regarding this:
- does the cloud service offer the same functionality as the local SEP Manager, esp. roll-out (push) of SEP to clients and handling of security policies for the SEP clients?
- do we have an overview of our domain's computers (will Active directory data be synchronized to the cloud service)?
- do we still need a sort of sync component on a server that tells the cloud service which client computers are available in our domain or could we free our server from all Symantec manager components?
- does it produce much traffic (our bandwidth is not soooo super)? I assume that every SEP client will pull virus signatures, programm updates etc. from web, right?
- can it be used for free (when you have a Protection Suite Small Business license)?
- is there a migration path from a local v12 SEP manager installation to a 2013 cloud manager scenario? Any step-by-step documentation?
- is there a documentation of the cloud service?
Thanks & best regards,
